| RBC History - Pastors |
1914-1916
A call was extended to Rev. John H. Martin of Springfield, Ill. on March 11, 1914. In November 1914, evangelistic meetings were conducted in which Rev. Martin himself preached. There were 13 saved, and a total of 17 were added to the church membership. The spiritual life of the church was at a high level as indicated by a 30 to 40 weekly attendance at prayer meetings. Rev. Martin praised the Lord that he was able to make an average of 100 calls a month.
During Rev. Martin's ministry a new metal ceiling was put on the ceiling of the church auditorium and the ceiling of all the existing first floor. Also, the church basement was completed, the interior of the church redecorated and the choir loft re-arranged.
On July 11, 1915, it was voted to give up our interest in the Forest Park Mission Church which was now self-supporting.
On December 10, 1916, Rev. Martin tendered his resignation to take effect at the end of the year.
