Bro. C. Kennedy Turner
| RBC History - Pastors |
1917
From January 1917, until March 4, 1917, a young student pastor from Moody Bible Institute, C. Kennedy Turner, filled our pulpit. During this period (Jan. 31, 1917) the church passed the following very significant resolution: "Resolved, that we forever forbid any member or society or club to charge admission either by ticket or money for any services or entertainments, socials, or suppers at the Ridgewood Baptist Church."
On March 4, 1917, the church officially called Bro. Turner as pastor. The church also granted him the privilege of continuing his studies at Moody Bible Institute during the day until graduation. Bro. Turner won his way into the hearts of all, and in spite of the fact that his was the shortest ministry on record (a little over 8 months) God was definitely glorified. On October 19, 1917, Bro. Turner resigned, and he preached his last sermon on November 25, 1917. From this time until September 22, 1918, our church was without a pastor and dependent upon student pastors from Moody Bible Institute and independent sources for pulpit supplies.
