Music Ministry
| RBC History - Ministries History |
Music has a special place in the hearts of Christians who desire to worship our Lord. Ridgewood Baptist Church has been abundantly blessed with musical talent over the years, and that talent is still with us today. Musicians in our church are great in number, and we are blessed in each worship service. Dennis Fanning is our choir director, bringing us special vocal numbers each Sunday, along with seasonal cantatas.
The choir is one of the most important single groups connected with the church that aids in the worship, praise, and evangelistic services. While the personnel of the choir have changed many times over the years, its prime purpose has always been to bring a message of courage, worship and of salvation but not to entertain.
We have a list of twenty charter members of our first choir, which was organized about the same time as the church. Mrs. Ada McCurrie, Mrs. Eva Stitt, Miss Hattie Constance, Miss Minnie Constance, George A. Vance, Mr. Allan Heald, Prescott Heald, Kitty Pomeroy, Mable Jones, Anna Jones (organist), Prof. Crandall. Mrs. Crandall. Margaret. Claud and Harry Crandall, Leonard Kneser, Centis Smith, Ethel Miller, Nellie Jones and Fannie Ellis.
Some of the directors and assistants who have served so faithfully are: Prof. Crandall. Lottie Taxis, Wm. Ashman, Rev. J. R. Corwin, Cora Gaskill, Wilbur Voss, Imogene Welch, Ackter Johnson, Rev. Moser, John Whyte, George Vance, Merle Pool, Helen Pickering, Lloyd Crist, Gail Pisha,Phillip Stutz, Jim Emery, Pastor Wavne White, Fred Smalley, Jack Lepper, Debbie Storch (LeGrande), Dennis Fanning, Karl and Fran Beaudry, and our present director, Dave Armstrong
Ridgewood Baptist also has opportunities for the young musicians. Children's choir and Wee Choir practice each Sunday evening and have many performances throughout the year. The academy has begun an instrumental program and will be performing the well-known drama "Sound of Music" in the spring of 2003.
